Matter of Perspective
Well, I’m cleaning out my photo files ( a constant process) and came across some photos of dear friends of mine. I just happened to take my camera to the playground one day (I know, yawn) but challenged myself to TRY and find something interesting in an otherwise mundane place. To see it with “new eyes,” if you will. And sometimes it’s just a matter of a new perspective.
This little guy played perfectly into my hands, although he certainly tried not to! LOL! He pulled all the typical two year old tricks to avoid the camera, looking shy, looking coy, or just plain not looking.
But the moment of glory came when he ducked beneath the picnic table to hide.
… but I was able to grab a quick shot between the table crack. And it it by far the most interesting shot of the day (to me, anyways!)
Here is a diptych of shots taken (literally) seconds apart. I edited them side by side so they would look similar…I still have a tendency to edit one shoot fifteen different ways…
I just love the side by side comparison. On the left is a pretty decent photo- I was trying to use the table to fill the foreground. In fact, I believe my hands (holding the camera) were actually resting on the table. I love the lines leading up to that sweet little hand and face. But when he ducked beneath the table, I couldn’t BELIEVE my luck!!!
While I would have liked more of the wood grain to be in focus, there simply wasn’t time to adjust my settings. I was shooting with my 50mm at f/2.5- which was perfect for the image on the left- just enough detail in the wood to give you the idea of a table, but still blurring out the rest of the world. The image on the right, had it been planned, could (perhaps) use a smaller aperture to allow sharper edges on the wood. But still I am happy with it. Because that little face peeking up at me is all that matters anyways!
I have been sooooo blessed to have this little munchkin to chase around from time to time! My own kids grew so fast, I can’t hang them up-side down from their feet anymore! Everyone needs someone in life they can tickle who can’t outrun them.

Awww! I know that little guy!
Love the pics!
