This will be a quick post as the editing was so simple and the effect so dramatic that there is little to say! We did an impromptu studio shoot one cold winter afternoon. The model designed and her own outfits and brought her own props. I was merely the camera for her vision. The outfit is vintage school-boy inspired, hence the books. Upon seeing the setup, I immediately pictured a heavily textured, artistic, but vintage looking edit. So I rummaged through my electronic files and found this gorgeous texture, Saloon by Ginny Haupert.
I instantly knew it would be perfect. And it was EXACTLY the look I wanted!!!
Here’s the original image, straight from the camera. While the photo is not bad (for studio anyways…yawn…) You can see the backdrop is dreadfully wrinkled and the whole thing just falls flat. Yet another boring studio shot, right? Wait ’till you see what a little texture can do!
Here’s the finished product with very little modifications other than the texture overlay, retouching the skin slightly & sharpening the eyes. Et voila! I absolutely LOVE it and the best part is, it only took me five minutes!
Now THAT’S the way to make studio photography interesting
